Al Gordon serves as Chief Executive Officer of NSI. Since he founded the firm in 1996, he has helped companies successfully navigate the complexities of procurement, legislative and regulatory issues in the state and local government market. Under his leadership, NSI has helped generate over $23 billion in new revenue, as well as execute dozens of successful legislative and regulatory programs, for its clients. Al leads all business development efforts for NSI, building and maintaining NSI's private equity and venture capital relationships for the firm.
Key to NSI's success is Al's strategic approach to the government market. He has a proven ability to transform clients’ businesses based on an approach rooted in NSI’s extensive network of subject matter experts and consultants across the country serving as strategic partners who understand the dynamic state and local geopolitical landscape, a concept which began with his career as a senior aide to former New York State Governor Mario Cuomo. For more than seven years in that capacity, he oversaw such areas as legislative and intergovernmental relations, which included serving as the liaison to local governments. During those years, he served at the nexus of the public and private sector and learned first-hand the keys to policy and procurement successes for businesses, bringing those leading practices to NSI’s seven practice areas.
Al's extensive experience in New York State government and politics also included serving as the Chairman of the New York State Democratic Committee and running several statewide political campaigns.
Al received his bachelor's degree in Political Science and History from Clark University and a J.D. from Fordham School of Law. He also serves as an operating advisor at Pegasus Capital Advisors, L.P. (www.pcalp.com), NSI’s private equity fund manager with main offices in New York City and Cos Cob, CT. Founded in 1995, Pegasus currently manages close to $2.0 billion in assets through several private equity funds and has made more than 80 investments since its inception.
Tim Onoff's strong track record of growing successful ventures that bridge business and government is invaluable at a time when government and corporate America are working closer together than ever before. He works directly with clients to develop strategies with key tools to achieve their goals. He is also deeply involved in project development, integrating efforts across all of NSI’s practice areas and business units, to include NSI Government Markets and Government Relations. He is also directly involved in helping spearhead NSI’s growth initiatives and currently serves as President of NSI, leading NSI’s network of over 2,500 state and local consultants across the nation as well as its regional offices in New York and Florida.
Prior to his current role as President, he founded and led a consulting firm, Assisted Initiatives, which specialized in helping corporations with state and local marketing efforts. Specifically, his work has involved comprehensive legislative, intergovernmental, grassroots communications and issue-advocacy campaigns. He also has developed strategic government marketing campaigns and assisted companies in the leadership and execution of winning government sales programs.
Tim has also served as an aide to former New York Governor Mario Cuomo (D-NY) and a public affairs and policy liaison for the Cuomo Administration and New York Secretary of State, experience he continues to draw on in his current role as President of NSI Government Relations.
Tim has extensive experience in developing and growing successful government affairs, procurement and advocacy campaigns, having served as an advisor to gubernatorial, state legislative and local government campaigns. He also served as Deputy Upstate New York Coordinator for the 1992 Clinton Gore Presidential Campaign. Tim holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from St. John Fisher College.
