Director, Government Relations
Kevin Matthews serves as both Managing Director of NSI’s Energy & Sustainability Practice and as a Senior Director of NSI's Government Relations Practice, where he works with clients on developing strategies for interfacing with state and local governments. In the energy and sustainability sector, NSI has clients that range from cutting edge Zero Emission Technology and other forms of renewable energy to water and wastewater infrastructure solutions. Through Kevin’s leadership NSI’s clients have achieved results that include: over 160 MW of solar PV installations, the adoption of PACE programs in dozens of jurisdictions and multiple water improvement projects. Kevin also serves at the Co-Project Director for the ZEV V2G School Bus Initiative. In this capacity he is currently managing a $3.2 million, 6 bus demonstration project funded by the California Energy Commission and South Coast AQMD. He also serves as project manager for the Blue Bird’s U.S. DoE $10M grant to build and deploy commercially available ZEV V2G school buses.
Prior to joining NSI, Kevin served as the director of government relations for AIG Environmental. Kevin has also served in various positions with the US EPA in Washington, D.C. where he worked for Administrator Carol M. Browner as both Special Assistant and Senior Congressional Liaison.
Kevin holds a B.A. in History from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas and an MPA from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin. He previously was a certified Environmental Risk Manager from Texas State University.
