NSI Executive Receives Award of Excellence from the New York State Forum

Albany, NY — September 29, 2009 — Arthur Brown, Senior Vice President of The Walters Consulting Group, an NSI company, received the IT Corporate Roundtable Leadership 2008-2009 Award for Excellence from the New York State Forum. The award was presented at the Forum’s 23rd Annual Meeting attended by over 200 government and technology corporate leaders and staff.

“This award recognizes Art’s exceptional contributions to the ongoing dialog between the public and private sectors to manage through the complexities of government information sharing for New York State,” said Greg Benson, New York State Forum Executive Director.

The New York State Forum is a network of state and local government organizations and IT leaders and professionals interested in the information management, policy, and operations of the State of New York. Art Brown is Co-Chair of The Forum’s IT Procurement Work Group, through which government and corporate members worked on critical policy issues and legislation that affect New York State’s IT priorities. Most notably, the Work Group has focused on advocating for policies that would keep the State’s procurement practices open and competitive.

“States have extremely strong IT needs, yet today”s economic realities hamper decision makers’ ability to procure the much needed systems and tools. This is especially amplified in a very large state like New York, where the economy has been especially hard hit,” said Roy Cales, NSI Principal and former State of Florida CIO. “Art and the IT Procurement Work Group have focused on bringing public and private entities together to find collaborative ways to address the State complex IT initiatives.”

Art Brown is a senior executive at The Walters Group, an NSI company. He specializes in assisting technology firms with their procurement challenges and, by bridging the needs of State and local governments with private sector solutions, focuses on driving public sector revenue for his clients. Prior to joining NSI, Art worked in various positions within the State and local governments of New York including serving as the County of Albany’s first CIO. Art also served as Director of Public Sector Business Development for Electronic Data Systems and later opened the New York Public Sector Practice for Deloitte Consulting, LLP.
