NSI expert to share insight with key advisors on health care reform

Washington, D.C. — November 6, 2009 — Darren Katz, a health care expert who leads many of the public affairs and strategic communications programs at National Strategies, LLC. (NSI), will advise decision makers serving multi-employer and public sector benefit plans on the impact of health care reform Monday at this national conference in Orlando.

Mr. Katz will be one of several key industry thought leaders who will help attendees navigate pressing issues of today’s employee benefit plans at the 55th Annual Employee Benefits Conference. The conference, to be held November 8-11 at the Orange County Convention Center, is hosted by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, a nonprofit organization dedicated to being a leading objective and independent global source of employee benefits, compensation and financial literacy education and information.

During Monday’s session, Mr. Katz will discuss the impact health care reform will have on hospitals, device manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies, health plans and retail pharmacies, and he will offer insight into the shared responsibility for health care between businesses and state and local government.

More than 5,000 trustees, administrators and professional advisors serving multiemployer and public sector benefit plans are expected to attend the conference. Sessions will be offered on health and welfare as well as pension, investments, fiduciary responsibility, communication, administration, technology, public plans, and training and education funds and the conference offers numerous problem-solving workshops, open forums and 25 specialized roundtables.

Mr. Katz, based in Atlanta, GA, is Principal of Public Affairs at NSI, where he is instrumental in leading public affairs and strategic communications engagements for the firm. Prior to joining NSI he was President and Co-Founder of the Edison Group, a leading public affairs and issue advocacy company. Mr. Katz received his BA in Political Science from the Honors Program and the University of Florida. He also holds a JD from the Emory University School of Law and is a Masters Candidate in History at Harvard University.
