NSI New York Team Provides Competitive Advantage
Washington, D.C. — November 13, 2008 — National Strategies (NSI), a nationally recognized business-to-government consulting firm headquartered in Washington, DC announced today it has acquired the assets of The Walters Group in the State of New York. The acquisition solidifies NSI’s long time roots in New York State and serves as a milestone for NSI’s expansion efforts, following a recent acquisition in Tallahassee Florida.
“We are excited about bringing on The Walters Group as we grow the organization’s footprint and expertise,” said Al Gordon, CEO of NSI. “Ruth and I have a long history, first working together for the State of New York, and I am confident that the NSI/Walters Group partnership will be a strong and effective one. Our clients will be well served by Ruth’s public sector expertise in the State of New York.”
Both Al Gordon and Ruth Walters came out of New York State government working in senior level positions within former New York State Governor Mario Cuomo’s office. Ruth also served as a top level aide to two New York State Assembly Speakers of the House and as an Assistant Comptroller in the New York Office of the State Comptroller, where she led more than 250 employees in all of the payment, contracting and accounting operations statewide.
“It’s very exciting to have Al back active in New York”, said Ruth Walters, President of The Walters Group and now part of NSI’s national organization. “I see this as a winning proposition for all of us – The Walters Group, NSI and our clients.” As part of the acquisition, Ruth Walters will continue to serve as President of The Walters Group and NSI’s regional office. The New York team will continue to service its current list of clients and expand the legislative side of the practice and other related services to align with NSI’s business model for providing clients a full line of business-to-government consulting and services. Additionally, The Walters Group will continue to maintain its status as a New York State certified woman-owned business, a benefit for companies that do business in the public sector.
